How to prepare for menopause naturally, without drugs and hormones

Menopause can be a dramatic life changing experience. Your body is adjusting to living without estrogen and leaving the childbearing years behind. Perimenopause is the 4-7 years leading up to menopause. Medically, menopause is treated with Hormone Replacement Therapy ( HRT ) and Perimenopause is treated with birth control pills.  Both HRT and birth control pills may increase the risk for breast cancer, stroke and heart disease. So how does a woman prepare for menopause without drugs and hormones?

Preparing for menopause – Resting and Nourishing the body
Just like any major event in life, you will be better off being proactive and prepared for the event to happen. To prevent the side effects of menopause: including hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, weight gain, irritability, brain fog, loss of libido and depression, specific preventative steps need to be taken. In today’s busy world most women are overly stressed. This stress leads to adrenal fatigue, weight gain and poor nutrition, which all increase the risk for menopause symptoms. Taking time to decompress during your mid forties to early fifties is very important.

Keeping the “PAUSE” in Menopause.

Stress causes increased cortisol production which leads to increased estrogen swings and weight gain. Stress can deplete your body of vitamins and minerals. Be sure to eat a full color spectrum of raw vegetables on a daily basis. Use Himalayan sea salt regularly to replace minerals and consider taking a colloidal mineral supplement. Ultra refined fish oil helps to regulate your hormones and cannot be attained in large enough dosages from your diet alone.

Stress reduction plan. Reduce you busy schedule. Focus on improving your breathing with some Deep Breathing Yoga. Improve your bone strength with walking, and lifting weights and by avoiding coffee, tea and soda.
