Phoenix Chiropractor Explains Children and Chiropractic Care

  • What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic encompasses all ages by taking care of people from in the womb to old age. Chiropractic helps restore optimum health throughout your lifetime. Most people think that chiropractors “crack bones to relieve pain.”

In fact that is not what chiropractor’s do at all. We evaluate how the Central Nervous System is functioning. By examining the spine for the presence of a subluxation. If a subluxation is present we analyze it and then correct the subluxation with a specific adjustment.

The central nervous system is surrounded by the skull and spine. The function of this nervous system is to send messages from one part of the body to another ensuring proper function.

  • What is a Subluxation?

A subluxation is a misalignment of a bone interfering with signals being sent through the nervous system. If a subluxation within the spine is blocking the nervous system, the person develops symptoms such as back pain, neck pain, migraines, or respiratory problems.

Adults seem to wait till the symptoms appear before they seek a chiropractor, imagine if you started seeing a chiropractor as an infant. These symptoms may not have appeared.

  • Why should parents seek Chiropractic Care for their children?

Most spinal problems in adults started in childhood. Childbirth is typically the child’s first subluxation. It is very traumatic and stressful on an infant. The end result is nerve irritation caused by a vertebral subluxation.

Colic, breathing problems, sleep disturbances, ear infections, and nursing problems may result. Ear infections are the most common in infants and toddlers.

We commonly take our precious children to the pediatrician for ear infections because they develop a fever along with the infection. The fever is not a bad, it is the method through which the body destroys foreign bacteria.

Pediatrician’s then give our children doses of antibiotics to resolve the ear infection when in fact it kills off all the good bacteria. This often leads to more ear infections within their lifetime. The ear infection could be easily cleared up with a gentle adjustment to the child to drain the fluid and allow the body to heal itself.
