Why you should get a Chiropractic adjustment when you have a fever

Why should you get a Chiropractic adjustment when you have a fever?

Holistic minded parents often bring their kids into Atlas Chiropractic, in Northwest Phoenix, for a Chiropractic adjustment when they have a fever. However, it is important to understand that the Chiropractor is not treating the fever, or symptom. (1)

The Benefits Of a Fever

A fever itself is not a dis-ease and is part of the body raising its temperature to fight off infection. Thus, when a healthy, well-functioning, body comes in contact with an infection, the normal and proper response is to get a fever. The fever then rises to a high enough temperature to kill the infection. Once the body has rid the body of the infection, then the fever will reduce it’s self. (2)   Getting colds, runny noses and fevers, actually develops a high functioning immune system that produces health. (2)

Why do Parents bring their Kids in to get Chiropractic Adjustments when they have a Fever?

Health is the body’s ability to adapt to the environment. The brain, spinal cord and nerves, are the control center and messenger of this system. The brain senses the presence of the infection, and signals the body to produce the fever. Once the brain detects that the fever has been reduced, then it signals the body to stop producing the fever. Thus, when a fever is present it is important to maximize the communication between the brain and the cells of the body. If a segment of the spine or vertebrae is out of alignment, then the signal may be interfered with, which detects or controls the fever. Parents bring their kids in to get adjustments when they have a fever to maximize the communication between the brain and the cells of the body, thus allowing the body to heal itself.

Fever and Chiropractic – Not Treating Symptoms

The innate or internal intelligence of the body, will determine whether the body needs to have a fever. The goal of the Chiropractor is to insure there is no interference with the connection between this innate intelligence, and the cells of the body. The Chiropractor is treating the misalignment causing nerve interference or subluxation. Thus, the Chiropractor is known as the “cause adjustor”.
